• In the recent 98th episode of mann ki baat, PM Modi praised eSanjeevani application.
• He also said experiments such as the eSanjeevani application had ensured medical services to people living in far­flung areas of the country.

ABOUT e-sanjeevani :

• It is an e-health initiative of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
• eSanjeevani is a national telemedicine service that strives to provide an alternative to the conventional physical consultations via digital platform.
• eSanjeevaniOPD – Stay Home OPD has been developed by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Mohali.
• OPD is based on the eSanjeevani model and offers OPD consultation services to people in the comfort of their homes.
• eSanjeevani is a cohesive part Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission (ABDM), and more than 45,000 ABHA IDs have been generated via eSanjeevani application.
• Salient features of this citizen friendly web-based National Teleconsultation Service (eSanjeevaniOPD) are:

• National telemedicine service of India – eSanjeevani achieves 8 crore teleconsultations.
• eSanjeevani surpasses records by registering 1 crore consultations in approximately 5 weeks.
• eSanjeevaniOPD trains and onboards 2,22,026 specialists, doctors and health workers.
• More than 45,000 ABHA IDs have been generated via eSanjeevani application.

• Telemedicine services like eSANJEEVANI can be game-changer in a country like India, where the doctor to patient ratio is much lower than the number prescribed by WHO.
• Through this app, tele­consultation, that is, while sitting far away, through vi­deoconferencing, you can consult a doctor about your illness.
• eSanjee­vani was becoming a life­saving app for the common man of the country, for the middle class, for the people living in hilly areas.
• With the introduction of this service, people living in the remotest areas will also be able to get their health related consultation.
