AGNI 4 MEDIUM RANGE MISSILE TEST FIRED

Why in News?

  • The Agni-4 medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha, on 6 August 2026.
  • The test was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC). According to the Ministry of Defence, the launch successfully validated the missile’s operational and technical parameters.
  • The successful test demonstrated the operational readiness of the missile and confirmed that its critical systems performed according to the expected parameters.

   

WHAT IS AGNI 4?

  • Agni-4 is an indigenously developed medium-range ballistic missile of India.
  • It is capable of carrying both:
    • Conventional payloads
    • Nuclear payloads
